Environmental insurance is still developing in Europe, with the majority of countries reporting a small but stable market. Client awareness continues to grow with the implementation of the European Union’s Environmental Liability Directive (ELD) and it would seem cover can still be bought at very low rates. Capacity is on the increase in most Western European countries as carriers see a first-mover advantage in a developing, high profile, line of business.
